More Info & Booking
Laser technology is an option that uses the precision of lasered light to accurately and painlessly remove unsightly body hair from both large and small areas of your body. For the most effective level of hair removal; expect to have two to six treatments.
Individualized Treatment for Unwanted Hair Removal
Whether you need laser hair removal for facial, leg, back, chest or pubic hair; expect to see 10-25% less hair after your very first treatment, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAM). In many cases, the hair remains gone for weeks if not months but results may vary. Additionally, laser hair treatment is virtually painless with almost no downtime. You can be up and about right after your session but you might experience a little soreness, red or even swollen skin.
Lasers for Every Pigment and Skin Type
When we talk about lasers, we’re not speaking of Luke Skywalker wielding a light-emitting sword. With incredible accuracy, lasered light can stimulate the collagen protein and pinpoint scarred facial tissue and unwanted hair while sparing healthy surrounding areas. Depending on a person’s skin and pigmentation, different types of lasers are used. Consult with your doctor, or skin consultant to find out which lasers are best for your unique skin.
Early Laser Hair Removal
Good intentions are not always enough. On July 7, 1960, although scientist Theodore H. Maiman wanted to remove unwanted hair by destroying hair follicles with his newly-invented ruby laser; the result was a disappointment. By the Seventies, the alexandrite laser was more effective and definitely safer than Maiman’s original instrument. But lasers still needed to increase heat to effectively remove stubborn hair follicles. Finally, by the early Eighties, scientists designed a laser that could safely remove hair follicles followed by another 40 years to fine tune the hair removal laser technology used today.
Laser Hair Removal Process
First, your treatment area is cleaned. Depending on your skin sensitivity; you may get numbed by a gel within 30 minutes to an hour ahead of your actual treatment which lasts between a few minutes up to an hour. You’ll wear protective glasses and the esthetician or technician will make sure that your skin is tightly held in place. Some people describe lasers as gentle rubber band snaps or tiny, warm pinpricks. As the laser “zaps” the hair, you may smell sulfur or see a little smoke but that’s normal.
Post treatment, avoid the sun for the first few days. Consult your doctor pre and post treatment if you have questions about after effects, if any. Consider making your next appointment at Beauty Bar Med Spa. The skin specialists there are credentialed, highly qualified and ready to help.
